Iten is a small but very special town at the top of the Western wall of the Rift Valley. Blessed with a cool climate and quite magnificent views of the Rift Valley, it has with the help of its many well renowned sons and daughters who have made a success on the running track, developed some high class tourist facilities in recent years, notably the Kerio View Hotel and the High Altitude Training Centre.

 

A visitor on their way northwards or who is travelling on a budget might consider the Elgeiyo Sawmills Cottages, 15 kms north of Iten.

 

Coming into Iten from the Kabarnet side is Lelin Overland Campsite, a small establishment including a campsite, cottages and a bar and restaurant.
