Lake Baringo Boats and Excursions

Kampi ya Samaki, Kenya

INTRODUCTION

Our small locally managed company, based at Kampi ya Samaki on the shores of Lake Baringo, aims to make your visit to the area as memorable as it can be.

The combination of physical and geographic factors, and especially the high mean day and night temperature and the huge body of fresh water, have made Baringo practically unique in terms of animal bio diversity; many areas of Kenya claim 450 species of birds but in Baringo you can actually see them. Extraordinary insects also abound as well as some of the continent’s most interesting mammals and reptiles.

For the ordinary visitor there are three species which they will want to see and photograph; the hippos, the crocodiles and the fish eagles. For those with more specialized interests, we can provide sightings and photographic opportunities for any number of fascinating species; Scops Owl, Barbets, Eagle Owls, African Hoopoe and rare species of bat are just a few of the interesting birds and mammals we can easily locate.

Over the years we have assisted both tourists and scientists with hundreds of specialist requests; if you are planning a visit and have a particular aim in mind as far as locating a certain species, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will get back to you with our suggestions.
