VISITING BARINGO DURING THIS TIME OF POLITICAL CRISIS

7th January 2008

We are pleased to be able to say that both Robert’s Camp and Island Camp, Lake Baringo are remaining open for business. The staff and managements of both venues, all of whom live locally, are keen to promote a positive spirit in these troubled times and will continue to strive to offer all our visitors the high standards of food and accommodation to which they have become used. Both Island Camp and “The Thirsty Goat” are well supplied with food and beverages, and will as usual offer a la carte menus as well as catering for full board guests for long or shorter stays.

Getting to Baringo:

1.   By road from Nairobi. This journey is straightforward, heading out of the city along Uhuru Highway and going straight onto the Naivasha highway, by-passing Naivasha and then going along the newly opened highway and again by-passing Nakuru, after which the B4 northwards is good all the way to Baringo. Journey time is about 4 ½ hours.

1.   By road from Samburu – the north route via Womba, Kisima and Mugi, thence down to Baringo is at present safe.

2.   By road from Nyahururu along the spectacular Pyramid Road. Again this should be a quiet journey and take approximately 3 hours.

Please email us or contact us on 0721 307033 if you require an absolute update. Meantime we will all endeavour to keep an eye on the situation.
